I met Donna Brazille at a reception before she spoke at my school, St. Mary's College of Maryland (the finest small liberal arts school in the nation in my humble opinion) last night.
She mentioned that she felt that Howard Dean had done a great job of helping the Democratic party find its voice again and had made history in her opinion with his innovative campaign (she repeated these remarks in her speech, which had a quick rehash of the presidential campaign and then moved on to non-voting in America, particualrly among young people and how the political system ignores them). She lamented the fact that she'd have to get on CNN and talk about the death of the Dean campaign. She also said that Howard Dean threatened the establishment and that there was a backlash that resulted. She also said she liked Edwards positive message and style. She said Kerry was looking good lately but that it would come down to Mar 2 between him and Edwards.
During our brief conversation, I brought up dkos. She knew what a weblog was but wasn't familiar with us nor did she seem particularly interested at first. However, once I told her how much money dkos had raised for the DNC and Chandler her eyes lit up and she reached for a pen. She got distracted by a convo with the college President before she could write it down but turned to me a few minutes later and asked, "that site was daily k o s [spelling out kos] dot com, right?"
Just letting everyone know the powern our communities contributions have to turn heads.
