Zell Miller ACTION ALERT

Sat Feb 14, 2004 at 12:08:27 AM PDT

During his floor speech endorsing a constitutional amendment "limiting marriage to between a man and woman", Senator Zell Miller spent a few minutes blasting the now infamous Super Bowl half-time show.  His official on-record statement reads in part:

''I'm not talking just about an exposed mammary gland with a pull-tab attached to it...''

Mr. Miller has not clarified which part of a woman's breast he perceives as a "pull-tab" nor his proposed action when confronted with one but, clearly, your nipples may be in danger.

We urge you to exercise EXTREME CAUTION when in the vicinity of Senator Miller, particularly if you are a woman.  Additionally, we advise both genders against nudity within 500 feet of Mr. Miller.

Didn't Janet's breast have some sort of star-shaped ring or pasty attached to her breast?  I assume that's what he was talking about.

And you should warn both sexes, not both genders, against nudity near Miller.

Then again what do I know?

If he's "not just talking about an exposed mammary gland," what is he talking about?  Are committed gay couples having gay sex at the Super Bowl half-time show?

I'd gladly go in flagrante delicto right in front of the man just to drive him crazy.  tee hee

that he was referring to the lyrics of some of the songs performed, specifically the rap somgs.

I'm certainly no prude--I skipped the halftime show more because I thought the performers sucked than for any other reason--but for CBS to be up in arms for a boobie exposure they supposedly didn't know about when they approved the performance of a song with the lyric "gotta have you naked by the end of this song" is more than a little hypocritical.

    •  Gender and sex (none / 0)

I too remember the bygone days when only words had genders, but peoples had sexes. But the shift in meaning for gender started on campuses for understandable reasons; feminist humanities profs teaching "gender studies" and "gender theory" didn't want to risk confusion with sexologists teaching "sex studies." And Gender Studies will attract fewer confused frat boys looking for a gut elective than Sex Studies.

        ...should know better, n'est-ce pas?

To be sure, people have both sexes and genders (sex = biology; gender = sexual identity).

Perhaps I'm too much of a grammar nazi.

The first step is admitting I have a problem.

  •  I think (none / 0)

    ...he meant the "nipple shield".

Actually, I thought the description was pretty funny. Although of course Miller is scum.

    Funny scum, though.
