  •  Turnout (none / 0)

Remember Gore was 3-5 points down in pretty much every poll but managed a 1/2 point lead over bunnypants in the final tally. You can give Kerry 2/3 of the undecided ,and every percentage over 47% of the total eligiable electorate that votes give that point to Kerry. I don't think this election will be close and Kerry may even have coattails.

  •  great news (none / 0)

I thought maybe the Ohio ARG numbers were an anomoly because the last PA poll had the race even, and we should be close to PA. This makes me think the leads are for real in both Ohio and PA.
  •  Your lips to God's ears. (none / 0)

Or your fingers to God's eyes? Whichever. :)

I am mightily encouraged by the current polls.

I wish, though, that Kerry's campaign would give more opportunities to volunteer. I want to get out and work for this, but all I've been asked for is money. And I'll give money. I want to do more.

  •  And this is without Kerry doing anything (none / 0)

whatsoever, as far as I can see. Maybe I'm missing it, but are they spending anything much at all right now, or is Kerry just sitting on a big ol' war chest?

    •  Kerry launched a massive $25 million (none / 0)

ad campaign a couple of weeks ago. The new "Service and Strength" commercials have been helping to define Kerry to the uninitiated, highlighting his Vietnam service and character. Kerry has also been constantly attacking Bush on the stump. Between that and Bushco's debacle in Iraq the polls have been getting better for John Kerry.

Bush is at his best (meaning: most dangerous) when he appears to be the underdog.

    Don't misunderestimate. :)

I still believe this will be close.

It is time to bring back this time-honoured tradition: We never go to war because we want to, we only go to war because we have to.

  •  Yeah (none / 0)

I posted these polls this morning.
  •  My two biggest fears are....... (none / 0)

One: If Kerry gets too comfortable of a lead that the media will try to cut him down to even it up and thus make the race more interesting.

Two: If Kerry gets too far ahead some of his supporters may start drifting over to Nader.

Otherwise this great news. Also, on the comparisions with 1980, Kerry still has far lower name recognition than Reagan did as a challenger. So, Kerry make pickup more support just from additional exposure. Finally, these lower poll numbers for Bush tend to liberate those voters who did not want to speak out against him because we are in the middle of two wars and they would therefore appear to be unpatriotic. Now, it is perfectly acceptable to register your discontnet with his dismal performance.
