Republicans dominate Colorado politics. They control both houses of the State Legislature as well as the Governor's office. The only thing standing between the citizens of Colorado and the vermin, I mean Republicans, has been Ken Salazar.
Last year, in the closing days of the legislative session the vermin, I mean the Republicans, rammed an unconstitutional Congressional Redistricting plan through. Ken sued and won. That horror show was shot down.
Now the vermin, I mean Republicans, are at it again. SB 194 was passed out of the Education Committee on a party line vote today. SB 194 abolishes affirmative action in the State of Colorado. See the following stories in both the Rocky and the Denver Post:
Race preferences ban backed
Senate panel OKs anti-preference bill
37 witnesses were called to testify at the Committee meeting. 32 opposed the bill. The vermin, I mean Republicans, passed it anyway. Now it goes to the full Senate, where, likely as not, Senate vermin in chief, Republican Senate President John Andrews will ram it through. The vermin, I mean Republicans enjoy a single vote majority in the Senate. But hey, Andrews forced redistricting through last May, I'm sure he can force SB 194 through.
If it succeeds in the Senate, it will go to the House. The vermin, I mean Republicans, enjoy a substantial majority in the House. I'm sure the vermin, I mean Republican, Speaker of the House will force it through there as well. Then it goes to the vermin governor - Bill Owens. That scumbag is stupid enough to sign it into law.
At that point the fun starts because SB 194 is blatantly illegal. It violates the Federal Civil Rights Act of 1965. We, the people, will be forced into spending money we don't have to defend the indefensible. Again.
So where's Salazar fit in? He's abdicating his job as AG to run for Senate. He's abandonded his job and his duty to protect and uphold the Constitution for petty personal gain. We have enough sleazy opportunists in the US Senate, we surely have no need to elect more of them.
Therefore, Ken should stay as AG, defend the people of Colorado from the vermin and we should elect someone with courage, honor and decency to the US Senate instead. Vote for Mike Miles.
