Getting Roy Moore to Run

Tue Jun 01, 2004 at 09:07:57 AM PDT

OK, I'll admit that maybe I'm not paranoid enough. But does anyone have any ideas on what it would take for Roy Moore to actually toss his hat into the ring for President of the United States?

Listen, I live in Alabama.  You do not want this man to run for anything more responsible than garbage collector.

You think GWB is a loon?  You call Ashcroft the Ayatollah?

You ain't seen nuthin' until ole Roy gets his hands on some power.

David, I will admit that the major reason to encourage Roy (Rock of Ages) Moore to run for president is that then he would not be in Alabama trying to run for governor, which I believe is his next stop on the Career Path to Righteousness.

However, since I can move out of Alabama and for a number of reasons can't leave the US, I contend that Roy running for governor is by far the lesser of the evils.

Not that I am encouraging either possibility.

Please, for shits sake, can we stop this meme? I can not, and will not, support evil.. which is what supporting Moore is. Nothing good can come from it.. do you really want to give this asshat a pulpit with your money?

      finding the wedge.

Republicans have known how to find the wedge for years. They divide and conquer their opponents. Do you think all the Republicans who've been giving money to Nader, or the ones who ran Sharpton's campaign, think that either one of them are good people or those who would lead the country in the right direction? Of course not. They back the Dear Leader. But they also know that fomenting discord and conflict in the opposition is one of the most effective ways to cripple it.

As Nader is a wedge for leftist wingnuts, Moore is one for rightist wingnuts. Do you want to defeat Bush? Do you want to hurt him? Do you want to break their grip on power? Then use every weapon you have; remember, they won't stop at anything to  hurt you. You should give them the same consideration. Use the wedge to split their heartwood -- a tree must die from the inside out.

and a candidate to Bush's right (who knew that was possible?!) can only be a good thing while his support among the far right erodes for not being hateful enough (again, who knew...?!)  Whether one wants to give money to such an effort is each person's business.  I wouldn't either, but I'm certainly gonna do a lot of hoping.

He's fairly consistent with regard to his opinions on what federal power should/should not do.
