Does anyone know of a solid, on-line source for Congressman Ron Kind's efforts to extend FLAS fellowships for languages such as Arabic to undergraduates? As I understand it, Democrats in Congress proposed making fellowships available to undergraduates so as to get more Arabic speakers, a measure blocked by the GOP. However, googling is turning up nothing.
This was all connected to the International Studies in Higher Education Act, which the GOP is using to create an advisory board as part of a plan to crack down on alleged anti-American content in international studies. Conservative sites like Campus Watch have been all over this with their legislative action notices, but I can't find a liberal answer, though there seems to be a case for one.
I've "heard things" about the above, but am looking for a solid source to link to so as to ensure I have all my facts straight beyond the basic outline.
