It sounds strange, but that's what anyone's internet strategy has got to be about: Relationships.
Why? Cause that's how the NDP and www.NebraskaDemocrats.org is going to build a new majority in our red state.
With a budding blogosphere and state-of-the-art technology, the NDP is finally putting it's energy into building new relationships with online Democrats and Progressives --- as well as repairing old relationships with the Party faithful -- through a online rebirth.
I've seen that the online Democratic community has shown they are not an ATM for someone else's disposal or a legion of uninterested mass-emailers, who don't want to engage in the door-to-door warfare needed to win elections.
The online Democrats has shown that they want a community that is "real" and want political organizations and campaigns that are "real."
Where people blog with each other in a human voice -- not in consultant-driven, direct-mail soundbites. Where the critical mass of their research, blog posts, and emails can change the direction of a campaign, alter the media's direction on a story, or help an insurgent campaign become the front-runner.
So, your're asking yourself "Tell me something I don't know?"
Well, Nebraska is red state. We've been a red state since 1964...but in 2004 the Nebraska Democratic Party won 62% of it's targeted state and local races. That means Nebraska has more Democratic State Senators, County Officials, Natural Resources District members, State School Board members, and Public Power Board members.
We're moving forward by putting out a new strategy that, if successful, will hopefully help other red state Democratic Parties move their fundraising, field organizing, and communications into the 21st century...all while building and rebuilding the relationships needed to expand our Party's base coalitions and communicate how our values will bring back Nebraska's "good life."
Look, we're a red-state where Democrats feel alienated, distant, and a thing of the past...where someone was quoted in New & World Report saying "they spray for Democrats out here."
But hope lies in www.NebraskaDemocrats.org --a community-oriented, progressive tool to help Nebraska Democrats connect with other Nebraska Democrats and speak out our message of 'change' and 'hope' throughout social and personal networks across the state.
So come check us out http://www.nebraskademocrats.org on Saturday, May 21st and give us some feedback. You may not be from Nebraska, but we're all Democrats.
