Hey Bloomberg -- Mr Mayor -- I am a NYC resident who always votes in every single election. I voted for you over Mark Green in your last election, one of the only times in my
life I have voted for a Republican. I watched in horror as the Mayor of Chicago, Democrat Richard Daley, condemned the statement of a member of his own party, Dick Durbin, in a manner I found inappropriate.
Here is your chance, however, to defend the honor of New York City residents, 85% of whom are Democrats, from Karl Rove's most recent slander:
Rove, Bush's chief political adviser, said in a speech Wednesday that "liberals saw the savagery of the 9/11 attacks and wanted to prepare indictments and offer therapy and understanding for our attackers." Conservatives, he said in the speech to the New York state Conservative Party just a few miles north of Ground Zero, "saw the savagery of 9/11 and the attacks and prepared for war."
Rove said the Democratic Party made the mistake of calling for "moderation and restraint" after the terrorist attacks.
Schumer said Democrats were drafting a letter asking Rove to retract his remarks. Jim Manley, spokesman for Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., also called on President Bush to "immediately repudiate Karl Rove's offensive and outrageous comments."
Are you going to allow 85% of your citizens to be insulted like that?? As a New York City Republican, it is your duty to condemn Rove, vocally and openly. If you do so, I will vote for you.
If not, I will know that you are nothing but a Rove puppet, and will do everything in my power to make sure every New York resident is aware of that fact come next Fall.
Ball is in your Court, Mr Mayor.
Are you with Hillary, Chuck Schumer, and 85% of the residents in your City? Or are you with Karl Rove?
