Alex Castellanos is not the boogie man.
He's not even the ghost on Scooby Doo.
As with Rove - why are we afraid of this guy?
He has
one successful ad campaign to his credit - Helms' White Hands ad. He was a part of the team that got Helms his seat, before that, but he can't take sole credit for that. He fucked up Jeb's first run, snatching defeat from the jaws of victory, got his ass
fired by
Helms several years after White Hands (how bad do you have to fuck up to get fired by Helms for being too negative?), his ads in Ohio were most remarkable for the legal precedents they set in breaking campaign laws, and his ad for Bush/Cheney 2K got yanked over negative press. This guy actually
scares people? Even his new ads are causing more headaches and controversy for his boss' campaign than anything productive.
Seriously, this guy is a blessing for us. Maybe in 2K B/C had the common sense to realize he was a liability, but this year they seem to have lost all touch with reality. Please. Let this guy squander their 100 million. It will a beautiful thing to behold Bush's campaign commiting dishonorable and ungraceful seppuku on national television.
Rove, and now Castellanos, have shown time and time again how bad they really are at strategy. Their only skill is to fling shit by the gallon, but if you don't let them get to you, it doesn't stick. We're also seeing that they are horrible on defense.
I'm all in favor of not getting too cocky or confident, but can we please stop acting like these guys are geniuses? They aren't.
