Howard Dean's job title is DNC Chairman.
It is not, Editor of [insert newspaper here]. Neither is it Producer of [insert TV News show here]. He's not the teleprompter editor for your favourite talking head. He doesn't tell talking heads on conservative talk shows what quotes to cover, nor does he have a role in saying how they should cover the quotes they do cover.
And think about it, should he?
I've heard people say that if he said different things the media would report those things.
Really?
He's been DNC Chairman since February, what other speeches of his have they covered since then? You don't think he's been busy in the backroom swiping credit cards from donors?
Folks, no politician has a say over how they are covered. In a perfect world the media would figure it out themselves. But we're not in a perfect world.
So it's up to us. We have to pressure the media to cover democrats. Not just controversy that Dean uses to get some press for us.
Dean's doing his part to get Democrats in the news. His statements have forced Republicans to respond to Democrats rather then the other way around.
If we want more substance discussed then we have to pressure our media to cover it. We need to get involved in our local paper - their online forums, letters to the editor, calling/emailing/writing reporters.
