Here are two of the people that were arrested in front of the Milford Hotel at 46th and 8th (for kissing) as they read the lips of the NLG lawyers through the window of the police bus.

Taking a break to light some incense in front of the Garden.

Plastic handcuffs were readily available at yesterday's march. However, they wouldn't let me have any.

A Bush supporter kills two birds with one stone by simultaneously conveying that he hopes for four more years of Bush and letting everyone know what his IQ is.

This guy didn't realize that Jesus was the original ass-kicking liberal.

This guy gently queried as to who Jesus would bomb.

My intent is definitely NOT to plug my own site. But, with that said, I did post a great picture I took during the march, yesterday, of a great take on the Morton Salt® sign (among others). Also there is a new essay about domestic security (and, already, an irrelevant conservative post about how Bush is already bringing peace to the world)...

  -- but it seems to me that many/most of those shots aren't from yesterday's march, though they all are probably from general RNC protests this weekend or the spin-off factions that went to Central Park anyway (despite the permit being denied). For one, the naked folks outside Madison Square Garden was the AIDS protest from Friday night. The only real trees on the march route itself were at Union Square Park (where the march ended).
  It definitely is enlightening to see the march from the other side. For what it's worth, I didn't see any naked people, arrests, or fire at all on Sunday (and I doubled back some to get some extra photos). Not at all representative, but what do you expect from someone who calls us "foreign communists"?

  I wonder if they bussed folks in from somewhere to do this? I remember a bunch of losers who were brought in to picket "Last Temptation" in St. Louis. They were all members of some rural church, none of whom had even the slightest idea what the film was actually about. . . just that the "Reverend" told them it was evil.

I can't be there, but this gives me a lot of hope.
Even if Bush does (somehow) become president for four more years, this protest has done 2 things:
1- Bush will see that we don't agree with his ridiculous policies, and
2- (the most important and productive effect, in my eyes) It shows the world that Americans aren't all pompous assholes, and that we don't all agree with what is being done in our name.
