To me the tsunami has become very symbolic of what is happening in America today.

I am outraged that the real Tsunami is the republicans hold over America. We could see it coming, knew the ramifications, some of us did the chicken little thing 'the sky is falling', many thought we were just crying wolf. Some ran from it to foreign soil, others turned to face it head on and got smacked on their asses. Many succumbed to the wave of media hogwash and voted for them anyways out of terror.

The Republican Tsunami has washed over us, engulfed us and we are now drowning in their slime, crime, insanity and can barely find a foot hold where we can breathe freely.

We are begging to be saved, looking for help outside ourselves as we ponder the debrie. A few people, like Boxer and Tubbs, Jackson Jr, Waters and Lewis are yelling to guide us to the way out of the muck and mire we find ourselves in.

Some of us are hanging on to dear life to an olive branch, a piece of the foundation of democracy, trying to keep our heads above the water of the onslaught of after shocks from the republicans standing on the shore laughing at our plees for fairness.

The republican tsunami has left thousands dead in its wake. Will we let them kill the rest of us?
The relief is slow in coming. It may take years for the real democracy of America to recover its solid footing.

The world is grieving for the millions lost due to the republican tsunami of Nov. 2, 2004.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

  •  Our Democratic Leadership (none)
allowed it to happen. They read the meters and saw the tension building...and did NOTHING.

Now they are telling us if we just swim out to the Republican rafts maybe they will pull us to shore...

It has become a sadistic game...the closer we get the the Republican vessels and are just in reach the peddle away further to the right leaving us adrift and wondering what to do.

So far, our leadership has kept to the same stratgy...well maybe this time...if we let go some of our "issues" they will throw out a rope to save us...this time being so "lite" that we don't even stand for anything...we once again swim out to meet the Republicans who by now are on the extreme right shore...and they kick us in the face and laugh at our stupidity...

But does that stop our that we have cast off all of our issues...they have come up with a cunning plan...Aha!!! what if we take on their issues and start praying to their stingy self rigteous bigoted gods ...just maybe they will let us in the boat..

Meanwhile, if we just looked over our should to the left bank we would see a passage to a safe harbor that we could easily in reach under our own steam.

I agree with the sense that the wing-nuts are rolling over the rest of us, but I feel that it is not just the Democratic party's fault, but our fault.  But, we are the Democratic party! We are the "reality based" community, and unless we continue to write letters, call representatives, post comments, volunteer at the Democratic party, challenge the lables which conservatives has stuck us with, the tsunami will continue.
    •  Our fault??? (none)
The only way this disaster is our fault is that we elected these weak dems into office based on triangulations thinking that these DINOs were better than no dems at all.

When in fact real Dems could not be elected because our leadership attacked and sabotaged their candidacies like Mike Miles in Colorado and Dean. Instead they propped up spineless Dems to run in their place.

It is obscene and embarrassing the amount of effort that went into getting ONE SENATOR to do the right thing.

I was thinking the same thing yesterday. The Objection was the earthquake, the Republican response to come, the tsunami.

I don't want to belittle the natural disaster, mind you, by comparing it to Republicans. They're only people, you know--nothing like the real force of nature.

We can fight back against Republicans; it's simple compared to fighting the destructive power of the movement of the earth's tectonic plates and the subsequent power of the movement of walls of water.
