Yesterday I read Richard Clarke's terrifying yet plausible short story in the Atlantic Monthly. (Someone posted it here:
http://moralquestions.blogspot.com/) It has been gnawing at me ever since. Unfortunately, despite moderate publicity regarding this article, I doubt many people are going to seek out this relatively obscure magazine (and then gain the opportunity to consider the reasoning behind Mr. Clarke's predictions). But then something occurred to me. I think (admittedly as a layman) that this story could be easily turned into a screenplay, and then in the right hands, a movie. I think the way the story flows, the single coherent line of thought, and the length, just lends itself to being made into a movie.
