Recently Daily Kos has had a discussion of the power of images in the anti war movement. Powerful photos of the human suffering of war can have a great impact on those that view them.
Often this impact is greater than the impact of words when it comes to getting across the gross injustices done to civilians in times of war. It is with this in ind that I have begun a series of collages using images of war. Each image will be matched with a quote. It is my attention to use these images and words as a way communicate as best I can the way I feel about the current war in Iraq.
I was inspired by the regular diary by RubDMC who puts out a diary with images of war. These images have a profound effect on me. Bringing me closer to understanding the emotions and feelings of the people effected by our countries foreign policy.
First image after the jump....
The first collage is an Inauguration Special. I am often frightened by the speeches that Bush gives. Not just frightened by the often dark overtones he uses, but also by the knowledge that he is under the impression that his words are inspiring. The quote for the first image in this series is from his Inauguration speech.
"We have lit a fire as well - a fire in the minds of men. It warms those who feel its power, it burns those who fight its progress, and one day this untamed fire of freedom will reach the darkest corners of our world."
