Many people have posted and diaried about a host of topics this weekend that are really coming to gether for me. Activism, Vietnam-Iraq comparisons, marginalization of protests, senseless prosecution of protesters; the list goes on.
A look at ColdFusion04's Diary today shows just how ineffectual protests have been rendered in this day and time. Police three rows deep. Law enforcement has learned well from Vietnam as well as other struggles, and I'm beginning to wonder if the traditional forms of protest and civil disobedience have been rendered ineffective and easily ignored by the press.
I remembered the flashmob craze a few years back that came on the heels of the cell phone and text messaging wave. Would this be a more effective way to disrupt? A Mob of 300 or more people suddenly materializes from out of nowhere at a moments notice, does their thing for five to ten minutes and then vanishes into nothingness to suddenly reappear miles away? I realize that this may be marking me for a trip in the GulfStream V to Camp X-Ray Resort and Dissident Spa, but I'm really just curious...
Has anybody ever been in one? It sounds like fun! Any thoughts?
