(With apologies to the
Adams County Democratic Committee...)
As noted on DFA, yesterday AC/DC endorsed Howard Dean for DNC chair. According to the DFA release, at AC/DC's meeting "an overwhelming show of support for Howard Dean...resulted in an almost unanimous vote supporting Howard Dean to be the new chair of the DNC." The 80s metal band 70s metal band which became, vocally speaking, a hollow shell of its former self in the 80s has promised that "a letter of 'strong support' for Howard Dean to chair the DNC will be sent immediately to Governor Rendell."
I have acquired an advance copy of that letter, and post it for you here:
Dear Gov. Rendell and other DNC members,
As an Australian heavy metal band whose theatrical, high-energy shows have placed us among the most popular stadium performers of the 1980s, we at AC/DC take our responsibility to advise the Democratic National Committee on its selection of a new chair very seriously.
After lengthy consideration, we have become increasingly concerned that the Democratic party is on a highway to hell. It has strayed from its roots as a populist party, and become a place where money talks and one can get dirty deeds done dirt cheap. The special interests have got you by the balls and Karl Rove's minions have repeatedly caught you with your pants down. In short, things are all screwed up, in a total meltdown, and even the traditional base has begun to say, "You ain't got a hold on me."
We, the members of AC/DC, have therefore resolved that this means war -- it's time to send for the man who will shake your foundation. A cold hearted man who has been kicked in the teeth, brushed himself off, and can still be a ballbreaker . Someone who does not waste time beating around the bush and isn't afraid of breaking the rules of traditional Washington. Someone who will stand up for equal rights and fair play, and will convince long-time Democratic voters to stick around. That person is Howard Dean. There's gonna be some rockin'.
We appreciate that even if Dean is elected in a landslide, our problems will not be solved with a flick of the switch. We are deep in the hole. But with a live wire like Howard in charge, and with the rising stars like Obama and Barbara Boxer (she's got balls) we will be on our way to saying goodbye and good riddance to bad luck. Once again we can get back in business of making America prosper, and we can promote a sound foreign policy to make us all feel safe in New York City. Are you ready? Then, if you dare, for the good of our party and our country, please vote Howard Dean for DNC chair and let's make it out of these badlands and ride on to the next era of a strong Democratic party.
Sincerely,
AC/DC
