Tomorrow, we will see Howard Dean elected DNC Chair. For the first time, I will contribute money to the DNC. But there are a couple of things tugging at the back of my mind. These thoughts came into focus as I read an e-mail request for contribution I received from John Kerry. It was an ask that I had expected to see. But the subject line got the blood flowing:
Stand with Howard Dean.
Crap, John -- what do you think we've been doing for the last two years? We've stood in in rain, we've canvassed, many in sub-freezing tempuratures, we've stood at caucuses where we were told of your "electability". And we're still standing -- at Meetups, at our local political meetings, at Town Hall events and forums. We haven't stopped standing because we understand that what we're standing for is the soul of our country. Will America be cravenly manipulated by fear, encouraging as a people to act on that which is the worst in our nature? Or will America reach out to her people to act on what is best in us?
That's the war we are fighting. The DNC Chair, that's a battle, it's a battle that we have won, and it's a win that was a long time coming. And by the way, it's a win that's already being explained away and minimized by some within our own Party.
