I can't tell you how impressed and happy I am with Harry Reid. This man fights. He fights hard. He has a great, soft-spoken style that belies his belicose ways.
The more I learn about him, the more I like. First, I read somewhere he was and/or is a boxer. Yes, I know it's a brutal, testosterone laden sport where men essentially beat the hell out of each other. But, there are great lessons from boxing. First, your gonna get hit. You have to learn how to take it. This leads to the second lesson: endurance. In my opinion, boxers are some of the best conditioned athletes out there. Think I'm kidding? Try hitting a heavy bag for 3 minutes. Times 15. And getting hit at the same time. It ain't easy.
Harry helped to clean-up Las Vegas. He took on the mob. He won. He beat the mob. What a man.
Bush says he wants bi-partisanship. RNC attacks Reid. Reid calls bullshit. He stands up to Rove and his little minions and says "bring it on." Let's see the Republicans try that again.
Bush wants to privitize SS. Reid tells a wonderful story about his grandma. How can anyone not want ol' grandma to not live in poverty. Great counter-punch.
Bush nominates 20 judges that failed. Reid says the Dems will not back down. Calls the judges extremists. Harry points out more judges were confirmed than under Clinton, Bush I or Reagan. Obstructionists? No. We're keeping nutjobs off the bench.
Frist says he'll change the filibuster rule.
Reid says "Republicans will rue the day they changed the rules."
Reid puts together Democratic war room. Notice how we seem to hear more about Democrat positions since this happened? Even on Fox news?
Harry holds committee where he investigates the rebuilding of Iraq. Not much press, but there will be.
I get the feeling that although he didn't want Dean, he'll grow to like or respect him. Why?
Both men fight. Neither backs down.
This is the way I like my Democratic party.
THE PARTY THAT FIGHTS.
