On CNN's Inside Politics at 3:50 pm, the show's blog correspondents noted the controversy over the USA Next ad and said they'd asked USAN for a response.
To paraphrase and include the bits I wrote down verbatim: USA Next says the ad was a "test to see how liberals would react." Would they engage in a substantive debate over Social Security, or would they "run away screaming?" USAN expressed disappointment that "the liberals" concentrated on the image instead of the issue.
Do you buy that? Well, USAN changed the ad on the American Spectator's website. This is the new ad.
Does it look like it was sitting around waiting to be launched? Compare it to other ads USAN is planning to use.
They look a lot more developed, don't they? Like they took longer to design?
One more thing. The ads have been given single-number names to run on the site. The anti-gay ad was 2.gif. These ads are 3.gif and 6.gif.
But what's the filename of the new ad? The one USAN put up after they "tested" liberals?
It's usareplacement.gif.
I'm not saying you should be surprised that these guys are lying. But it's fun to watch them do it.
