NEW YORK (CNN/Money) -
ChoicePoint Inc., a national provider of identification and credential verification services, says it will send an additional 110,000 statements to people informing them of possible identity theft after a group of well-organized criminals was able to obtain personal information on almost 140,000 consumers through the company.
[...]
Alpharetta, Ga.-based ChoicePoint maintains personal profiles of nearly every U.S. consumer, which it sells to employers, landlords, marketing companies and about 35 U.S. government agencies.
ChoicePoint's databases contain 19 billion public records, including driving records, sex-offender lists and FBI lists of wanted criminals and suspected terrorists.
Very Timely
They've now confirmed that the data theft is widespread.
Database giant ChoicePoint said late Wednesday that 145,000 consumers nationwide were placed at risk by a recent data theft at the company. Previously, the company had suggested the theft only affected California residents.
It would serve them right if every single one of those 145,000 people who have had their privacy invaded by this scumbag company files suit against them.
I bet the class-action lawyers are already all over this one...

May not be an accident but a leak ...
See my diary just starting on the subject of the Seisint
Supercomputer and Database at Boca Raton, Florida, Jeb's country. The "no performance needed" contracts supplied by State and Government grants, uhh "contracts" involves Accenture | Cheney | Halliburton | Ghost of Enron | SAIC & US Elections.
The MATRIX and FACTSTM are a huge risc to US citizens' privacy. The well guarded compound of Seisint, when questions were asked about security of data, the response of Jeb was to add additional Florida guards. Great way to have oversight of the data streams of the Supercomputer.
The tiny affair on PropaGannon prohibits further research on the topic, but I am certain the JG | GOPUSA | Texas Pepug connection | RNC | McLean Va. | Jeb's Florida | will tie in at the end.
Just let it unfold and give the bloggers some time to catch up to further uncloaking!

I Smell A Rat by Donna Garner, July 23, 2004
""I smell a rat." This statement and other similar comments were made during the recent Texas State Board of Education (SBOE) meeting on July 15. Members on both sides of the aisle were unified in their concern over the questionable choice of only one vendor who was awarded $12 Million for a reading-intervention program. That vendor is Voyager Expanded Learning which has very close ties to two past Texas commissioners of education -- Mike Moses and Jim Nelson.
Another SBOE member asked about the involvement of Richard Powell, the consultant who wrote the specifications for the grant application; he had previously worked for the TEA under Commissioner of Education Nelson. The SBOE member pointed out that if the specifications on a grant application were pre-selected to fit a particular vendor, a felony violation has occurred, particularly if federal monies were involved."

I am just about done with a diary on the reporter turned spokeswoman for the Texas GOP, who claimed Robert "Bobby" Eberle was "unknown" to her and the TX GOP leadership. She must be related to Scott McClellan, deceit and fairy tales.
Yes, like you mentioned, the laboratory scale model of power reign and political agenda was transferred to Washington DC and implemented on a large scale. I'm closely watching the political development on Gov. Perry and the quarrel with State Comptroller Carole Keeton Strayhorn.
Could you perhaps answer an outstanding query: identity of the Gannon family who visited the Crawford ranch in August of 2001.

Here's what I know about psymark
Briefly, it seems to be a medical literature publishing group that does a LOT of work for Pfizer. It seems to administer their medical academic program, whose goal seems to get distinguished physician/scientists to speak at various medical schools (presumably on some pfizer-realted topic).
A search of the CT sec. of state corporation database reveals psymark was incorporated in 1990, and Thomas Fowler is its president. Thomas Fowler also is the president of Tom Fowler, Inc., also of CT incorporated in 1979. Tom Fowler, inc is a graphics design firm that has MAJOR corporate clients. You can check out their website here .
Interesting enough, the entry for psymark also lists a Mark Powley, as the corporate agent. Mark Powley used to be the president of Mark Powley associates, inc in 1978 in CT. In 1989, Mark powley associates merged with Medimedia USA, which is a Delaware multinational incorporated in 1976. Mark Powley Assoc seemed kind of similar to psymark, in that it was a small medical lit publisher.
Medimedia USA is a HUGE medical publisher that does all kinds of stuff. They publish Netter's atlas, used by med students throughout the US as the definitive guide for Anatomy. That's as far as I've got. I haven't gooogled much for medimedia, but it looks like they're a big company with legit purposes, possibly the creative people from Tom Fowler and the medical people from medimedia collaborate together to run psymark.
I know nothing about either Fowler or Powley, but I'll look more into this.

[A] Leads on Richard Powell, FYI
by jbalazs Sat Feb 19th, 2005 at 19:36:42 EST
I spent the day obsessed with finding information on Richard Powell, one of the Director's of GOPUSA. There isn't much, I wondered at one point if the guy was even real! But I think he is, he's just way under the radar.
The first clue was that he worked as a "policy advisor" to Governor Rick Perry. His title Special Assistant for Education, Office of the Lt. Governor.
A bit more searching uncovered a little more...
Diaries :: jbalazs's diary ::
I found an article called "I Smell a Rat" by Donna Garner, http://www.belogical.com/i_smell_a_rat.htm
The reference in the article is as follows:
"Another SBOE member asked about the involvement of Richard Powell, the consultant who wrote the specifications for the grant application; he had previously worked for the TEA under Commissioner of Education Nelson. The SBOE member pointed out that if the specifications on a grant application were pre-selected to fit a particular vendor, a felony violation has occurred, particularly if federal monies were involved."
So, I e-mailed the author to see if she knew anything more about Powell and she replied promptly with the following (she also OK'd me to post this):
"I wish I did know more about Richard Powell because I bet he is highly connected to Voyager Enhanced Learning. By the way, I also understand that Jim Nelson's wife works (or worked) for Voyager. Let me know if you learn anything more.
One other thought -- you might try talking to some of the long-time Texas State Board of Education members to see if they know anything about Powell."
So, I started researching Voyager to see what I could find and they appear to offer home-learning educational software. But I couldn't find any connection to Powell. Ms. Garner appears to have done tons of research on education systems, so her suspicions are probably based on decent facts, but I'm not sure.
If anyone has the ability to find out more on Voyager, it may be a good lead for finding out more about the mysterious Mr. Powell.

[B] Write to Network Solutions and ICANN to Protest by xejn
Not long after the whole Gannon thing broke, Bobby Eberle changed the whois info for his sites -- talonnews.com and gopusa.com. The old info has Eberle listed as the site owner with his home address for the contact info.
He changed the info to a fake phone numner and listed what by all accounts was a fake company -- Endeavor Media Group, LLC.
It is against both ICANN and Network Solutions' policy to provide invalid information for a domain registration. So, I wrote to Network Solutions to complain about this infringement of their policy.
Network Solutions's solution, rather enforce the policy of ICANN by either forcing Bobby Eberle to provide valid information for the publicly viewable whois domain info or risk losing the domains -- Network Solutions provided a "Private Registration" to hide behind.
Private Registrations have some merit in that they can provide protection from spammers, but they also give a safe haven FOR Spammers and others who do not follow the rules the rest of us must follow -- like providing valid information for ownership of a domain address.
Write to Network Solutions to protest this policy. Write to ICANN to protest Private Registrations and to request they verify Eberle is providing valid information for his domain.

[F] Voting Fraud Links at Hathaway Group?
[G] Terrorists' use of Internet spreads By Jon Swartz, USA TODAY
Cyberfraud, ranging from credit card theft to money laundering, is the latest wrinkle in terrorists' use of the Internet.
It's "the new cash cow" for terrorists to finance operations, says John Pironti, a security consultant at tech consultant Unisys. Online scams are harder to trace because they are many schemes originate from abroad, where cyberlaws don't exist or law enforcement is lax.
In dozens of incidents the past few months, groups linked to terrorism have stolen credit card numbers over the Internet, laundered money and hijacked Web sites, security experts say.
The recent surge in activity has given counterterrorism specialists, already concerned with threats to physical structures, another worry. Like their colleagues in the FBI, Secret Service, the Treasury Department and elsewhere, they must bone up on Internet technology to match wits with the criminals.
For several years, groups including al-Qaeda have used cyberspace for communications, recruiting and propaganda. Now they've branched into other areas. Credit card numbers are often swiped through hacking attacks and phishing, fraudulent e-mails that trick consumers into surrendering personal information.
There are indications terrorists may next steal trade secrets from U.S. companies as their computer skills improve and they begin to work with organized crime in Eastern Europe. The stolen documents could then be sold to rogue foreign businesses or held for ransom, security experts say.
