Your tax dollars are now being spent to stack the deck in favor of the Presidents Social Security reform plan.
A centralized comunications effort is being coordinated out of the Treasury's public affairs office through the new Social Security Information Center, all at taxpayer expense.
This effort includes developing talking points so all officials are"singing off the same song sheet," when they make a 2 month barnstorming tour promoting the Presidents Social Security agenda. This tour will include President Bush, Vice-President Cheney, and Treasury Secretary John Snow, as well as other Cabinet officers.
Other plans include "rapid respose" to be directed at opposition of the Presidents Social Security agenda, "If there is an editorial in a paper that does not reflect the view of the president, they will engage in the traditional `rapid response' effort to ensure an op-ed or letter to the editor that states our view" Treasury spokesman Rob Nichols said.
A spam e-mail campaign directed at thousands of journalists, congressional staffers and menbers of the public highlighting positive press coverage and administration statements is also planned.
Your tax dollars hard at work ensuring an uneven playing field.
