Hey Chavez fans --
Look at Bolivia's current situation and you can learn a lot about the complexity facing LatAm in the wake of privatization's failure in relieving poverty (and success in increasing it). The current President, Carlos Mesa, is making a last ditch effort to consolidate power by offering to resign (before Evo Morales, leader of the cocaleros, gets him kicked as he did the previous president, Sanchez de Lozada aka Goni). If Mesa's effort doesn't pay off, were going to end up with another Chavez and upended society in Bolivia. The failure of privatization and the rise of left wing strongmen is a story that deserves more coverage and understanding.
