I'll start with a quote from the US administration.
"And one way to do so is to arrest people and send them back to their country of origin with the promise that they won't be tortured"
in this quote they are talking about ways in which to deal with Terrorists that threaten the country.
What I find funny about this is that they are talking about Suadia Arabia, Egypt and other countries.
Now what I am surprised at is how they are getting away with the fact that are then getting information from these countries. Didn't we question these people to the best of our abilities for months before we sent them back to there countries.....why would those countries be able to get new information that we could not get....well the simple answer is torture.
More after the Break
The biggest contradiction of the administration is found when you connect the Department of States report on Human rights Abuses:
So lets see Egypt a country we believe will not torture people is also:
"The Constitution prohibits the infliction of "physical or moral harm" upon persons who have been arrested or detained; however, torture and abuse of detainees by police, security personnel, and prison guards remained common and persistent. According to the U.N. Committee Against Torture, a systematic pattern of torture by the security forces exists, and police torture resulted in deaths during the year (see Section 1.a.). "
And
"there were numerous, credible reports that security forces tortured and mistreated detainees. "
This from our own Report folks.....and the Pentagon is sure these countries don't torture people while the department of state is sure that they do.
And on Saudi Arabia
"authorities reportedly at times abused detainees, both citizens and foreigners. Ministry of Interior officials were responsible for most incidents of abuse of prisoners, including beatings, whippings, and sleep deprivation. In addition, there were allegations of beatings with sticks and suspension from bars by handcuffs. There were allegations that these practices were used to force confessions from prisoners. "
"the Government does not recognize the jurisdiction of the Committee Against Torture to investigate allegations of systematic torture. "
Overall how is the Pentagon getting away with saying that these are safe places to send people and how can we rely on confessions from these people to fight terrorism.?
And folks thats just a start....Think of other countries like Syria and Jordan I'm sure they won't be any party to torture. In law it's no different then a drug dealer giving crack to a 12 year old. The US is the dealer and countries like Egypt are the 12 year old.....can you trust them not to abuse the drugs?
