This was originally a post, but I feel strongly that the message is the correct one. I am pro-life,(Everyone's life, but anti-criminalization for abortion) and pro faith-meaning everyone's faith is equally valid).
I have every stripe of faith in my family, and I respect them all. I also demand that my faith, your faith, or lack of faith, my beliefs be respected. This includes the neccessity of primacy of certain relationships in the context of life. Marriage would be one those relationship. Parent to child would be another.
God gave us these relationships to carry out his will.
When one marries, that relationship is and rightfully should be protected from outside influences. The state has always protected the "sanctity of marriage". But there are misguided politicians who seek to usurp those relationships.
There are some even within certain churches who in their own pride of "faith" forcing their way to the front pews, seek to undermine faith itself by rejecting that God has a plan for Terry. That plan is not about her "life" in a vegetative state. It is about THEIR faith.
Their faith in marriage, and faith in heaven itself. Some want to save her to wait for a miracle? The miracle IS heaven. The miracle is that they have faith to let her go.
How can those people who want to "save marriage" so completely undermine the Schiavo marriage at a such a critical time?
Why would they not want Terry to be free of the chains of this life and walk with God in heaven?
Why don't they trust that God wants her? Why can't they trust that Terry would be happier in heaven than she is in that chair with that feeding tube attached to her stomache?
Terry's parents are revelling in her suffering, they also need to move on and live full and productive lives. By chaining themselves to Terry's suffering, they are also living incomplete lives. How is that God's will?
They are undermining the sanctity of marriage, and undermining God's will. The parents, the Churches involved are using Terry for their own purpose, they don't care about Terry, only their own selfish pride in their own "faith" that has become epitomized by Terry. No doubt they are not "ready to let go". I feel sorry for them, truly I feel that the parents are suffering terribly over this.
If they truly had faith they would let her go, knowing she will be in heaven.
They should be rejoicing, knowing she will be with God, knowing her suffering is ending. Death is natural and is also sometimes what God wants. God didn't put a feeding tube in her stomache. Maybe it's time to move on.
Demonizing and undermining Terry's husband was the ultimate threat to marriage in this country.
Now they have sent notice that they have the right to interfere in certain matters between husband and wife in this country. That husband and wife are no longer protected from outside interference.
When other kids may lose their feeding tubes, other life-saving treatment, due to medicaid cutbacks, they place Terry's "life" at the helm of public policy debate. This is a private matter, and no judge, no congress should be involved.
When Terry married her husband she chose who would make those decisions. No one should have to persist in a drooling, vegatative state, and it is not up to the parents, not up to Congress. It was between her and her husband.
The people who have chosen to insinuate themselves in this marriage should get out.
