I saw this political cartoon today, and I have to say, it disgusted the hell out of me.
Not funny, not accurate and completely lacking in good taste.
We've probably all heard the argument by now - comparing Schiavo's condition to a baby's condition. It's flawed for reasons obvious to most people.
But this poor guy, who's had sensative family issues and the effective death of his wife thrust into the spot light by rabid grandstanders, does not deserve to be accused of wanting to starve babies.
The cartoonist who drew this defaming masterpiece (Glenn McCoy) apparently draws the cartoons for
this paper in Illinois. His cartoons, also available
here, are Faux Newsesque in quality. He blabbers whatever the right-wing talking point of the day happens to be, and his cartoons are rarely funny.
I guess it's the outright mean-spiritedness that irritates me about this one tough. Schiavo's not a public official, a celebrity, or a criminal. It just goes to show how ruthless these bastards are to any innocent person who stands in their way. Who's next?
