Well, now that the Schiavo case is winding down, and now that most of America realizes that the Republican Party faces huge backlash from both the majority of the nation (and more suprisingly) the narrow but powerful voice of the radical Christian right who feels "betrayed" by the Bush Administrations (both W and Jeb), the Mainstream Media has to play their little part.

Starting with this "analysis" in the
LA Times:
"The aggressive intervention by President Bush and congressional Republicans in the conflict underscored their commitment to social conservative causes, while the muted, hesitant response from most Democrats highlighted their uncertainty about handling values issues after the 2004 elections."
Yep. The Democrats "muted" and "hesitant" response to the Schiavo case was because the Democrats are still nervous when it comes to "values" issues. As Kossacks, we all know this is pure-grade BS, since the Democrats reaction was not "hesitant", but rather "unified" and they recognized this fiasco for what it was -- not a "values issue", but a "Constitutional issue".
We can see that the mainstream media is now attempting to figure out how to deflect the damage done by the Schiavo case on to the Demcrats, who, for the most part, wisely stayed out of this travesty of constitutional rights.
Frankly, if I were Brownstein's editor, this passage would have read a bit more like:
"The aggressive intervention by President Bush and congressional Republicans in the conflict underscored their committment to pander to their religious right base, while the muted and unified response from the Democrats highlighted their ability to figure out that this case was pure politcal poison"
