This isn't a typical goodbye rant, as I've already asked the Kos tech people to erase my account in its entirety - thereby assuring that I won't ever be back, and that I really don't want to be here. And I do NOT encourage you to respond. I don't want to stay, and you don't want me here. Just read what I have to say, and leave it alone. Besides which, your comments will, with any small luck, be deleted very soon.
This is merely what I've experienced over the two weeks that I've been a member of the Kos message board. I thought maybe by sharing, something positive could be gained for new members.
The vast majority of Kossacks are brutally humourless, and extremely intolerant. Let me explain that comment. I understand that it's a symptomn of the anonymous internet life to bring out the worst in people, but these boards really represent the very worst that people have to offer.
I wrote a couple of pieces of fiction that were satirical absurd and mean. In that order. That's what I find funny, so I wrote it in my personal diary, and waited for other like-minded people to perhaps weigh in with what THEY think is funny.
This was not to be. To my surprise, the vast majority of comments were from people who either wished to use my diary as an advertisment for their own petty egos, or simply to ream me out. People on this board are religiously condescending, and completely sanctimonious.
When reading a piece of satiric fiction they don't like, instead of passing it by, or simply forgetting about it as any rational person would do, the Kossacks find it their sacred duty to express any and all displeasure with anything.
The simple ability to express their views turns people on this board into instant egotists, turning out their pockets to spread crumbs of learning among the "unwashed masses". It's a vast exercise in vanity and self-delusion, and for all the interesting things that Kos posts, I'm going to be extremely happy once my account is gone.
Back to being a silent, faceless lurker. It's much more comfortable than actually saying anything to this aged and intolerant bunch.
