Former President Jimmy Carter is not included in the official US delegation. This probably isn't news to anyone, but I'm curious what people think of the reasons given.
The Bush talking heads say they "reached out", but Carter turned them down. The Carter folks say that he asked to be included, but was told the delegation was full, and there was no room for him. Apparently, the Vatican limited the delegation to five people, and those attending are Clinton, Bush and Laura, former Bush and Neo-condi Rice.
more below the fold-
Who the hell decided it was more important for Neo-condi to attend than Jimmy Cartere? I find this outrageous. Neocondi should have been kicked aside to make room for a former President, no questions asked. Others may not view this as a snub, but I certainly do. Neo-condi could have joined the congressional delegation in an unofficial capacity.
I find this an insult to President Carter, and for about the 1 millionth time, Bush should be ashamed of himself, although of course he isn't.
