Each of the "liberal" Washington, DC "Kule Kidz" have a speil to show that they aren't doctrinaire.
They throw out some right wing friendly blather, and they go to the right parties..
Washington Monthly's Amy Sullivan shtick is her assertion that Democrats have to publicly proclaim their faith in order to win over Red voters.
She is actually calling for a specific observance that is observed only by SOME denominations of Christianity.
The public proclamation of faith, "Witnessing" is specific rite of Evangelical Christianity.
It's not how I practice my religion (Jewish), nor is it how (most) Catholics, Orthodox Christians, or Episcopals practice theirs, at least not out or church.
That's what John Kerry was talking about when he said that faith without works was empty.
For those of us who do not witness, this is unnatural and an intrusion into our personal space absurd as my demanding that no one running for public office eat pork.
It is personal and intrusive.
(here is an example below the fold)
Imagine, if you will, my demanding a detailed description of the function my colon each time you speak.
Imagine me ACTUALLY GIVING YOU THAT INFORMATION FROM THE PODIUM without your requesting this information.
I might discuss it with family (we have a bunch of running family jokes about this), but it's inappropriate to greet people that way, or to campaign that way.
Do you get it now?
