Just got back to my cube after listening to Arnold Speak at an event held at HP's Roseville, CA facility. The talking points as I read them are below the fold...
- Government Employees are the source of California financial problems. Expenditures on Pensions for State Employees are up 1600% in the last 5 years. (Haven't had time to look this up, but it doesn't sound remotely accurate)
- Public schools should be replaced with Charter Schools. He said this point blank when asked about the differences in laws governing public and charter schools...
- Still, he didn't mean "Close" the borders. One man attempted to ask a question about this, and he politely cut him off, and made the correction, and moved on...
- Unions are in control of Sacramento, and are the force that causes great imbalance in the political system. (There was no mention of corporate influence)
- On Nurses, he said he repealed the ratio change because there aren't enough nurses... (Now, if you are a hospital administrator, if there are more nurses, are you going to hire more just because?)
All in all, he did a pretty good job of dodging almost every question asked... and of course, the format didn't allow for follow ups or rebuttals. Coward.
