WW2 vs WOT

This pretty much says it all:

1,347: Number of days from the bombing of Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, to VJ Day (Victory in Japan) on August 15, 1945.

1,317: Number of days from the airplane-bombing of the World Trade Center and the Pentagon on September 11, 2001, to today.

If Osama makes it to May 21, he will have survived the self-declared world's only superpower in a presidentially-declared war longer than did Tojo, Hitler, and Mussolini working together.

Does anything speak any louder to the fact that George W Bush is a miserable failure than this?

In the same amount of time it took the US to defeat a huge axis of enemies that included, at the time, 2 pre-eminent world empires into unconditional surrender, George W Bush and his F'ed up priorities haven't been able to apprehend 1 Man.

George W Bush.....Miserable Failure

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

that gets sent to every existing email account on the planet, will you?

Of course, I'm sure the wingnuts have a good excuse for their Fuhrer.

    •  yep (4.00)
it is a very e-mail friendly blurb.
I already sent it out to a bunch of my friends. Hopefully, they'll all hit the forward button and so on and so on.
I would've loved to send it to all the wingnuts I know, but I deleted all of their e-mail addresses after the election.
      Oh well.
    •  It's hard work. Hard. (4.00)
course we're assuming git'in bin really was an objective in the first place...

Remember "dead or alive" wasn't a politic thing to say...

And there is a slightly different perspective on WWII from the Allies. The British started in Sept 3, 1939 following Hitler's invasion of Poland on sept 1. Or, the Japanese invasion of China in 1932. And the start of the Spanish Civil War in 1936...

I doubt if Shrub ever read any history though... That was Daddy's war.

      It's a lot harder now.

  •  CATCH OSAMA? (none)
No?  What have we been doing instead?

I hadn't thought of it as compared to WWII, thanks.

How long does it take to lose a war?

  •  Osama is the enemy? (4.00)
You might want to remind Commander Codpiece of how things supposedly went on 9/11, because he seems to be quite confused about it (again).  His FBI is refusing to release information about Osama, citing legal protections of "U.S. persons" (!!!).  So, ahh.........we're claiming Osama as one of our own now?

I mean, it's not that I don't disagree with that, technically.  He was, and probably still IS a CIA asset and right from the getgo, a couple of hours into the shock of 9/11, I pulled myself together, sat bolt upright and said "Osama's been set up to take the fall for this!".  Given ALL of the evidence, I'm convinced more than ever that I was right. "Tim Osman" has been painted as a boogyman that we should all be terrified of, yet the MSM never gets around to discussing the odd coincidence of his older brother financing Bush's first company.  Those are strong family ties. Isn't it just a teensy bit odd that little Timmy should go on to open the door to a "lifetime of war" that just happens to center on the oil states, right when the world is running out of oil (and just after a governmental coup by a nearly all-oilmen administration)?

Osama will never be caught.  He won't even be declared dead until they can whip up a new boogyman, let's say some diabolically clever IRANIAN, who will, no doubt, threaten that Gomorrah (San NYC's "Sodom") with Iran's only nuke (no, wait....there has to be another to threaten Israel!), in spite of knowing that it would be suicide for his country (except for the oil facilities, which will miraculously be saved by Bruce Willis, leading a Delta Force team)!

I'm afraid you'll just have to start a new countdown for that one.  After all, records are made to be broken, and when it comes to farcical tragedies, our Dear Leader is a gold medal winner!

    •  And I thought it was just me (none)
Osama serves some purpose and I feel like a part of the tinfoil hat gang when I allow myself to entertain the thought that 3,000 Americans died because of very evil men who have some other purpose. Indeed the schism between world reality and Bush reality happened then. When you look at the way they have deported themselves since 9/11 you have to wonder.....And the last time we saw Osama, he didn't seem too worried about getting caught.
  •  We need an enemy (none)
The U.S. military needs toys. 260 million dollars each for 227 of these swanky babys.
