The Senate Finance Committee (Grassley, chair) will meet tomorrow, and will consider the Ferrara (the original privatization proponent), Orszag (increase revenues, keep promised benefits), Pozen (much like Bush's Plan 2), and Tanner (Cato - 'nuff said?) plans, hearing testimony from all of the plan authors.
Dems would only support some version of the Orszag plan, the rest are piratization plans.
The news article, with convenient links to all four plans, is here.
Orszag plan, in full, is
here.
Orszag has also testified about how Bush's plan would kill SS.
The prepared statements of the presenters should appear here.
Surprisingly, the panel will include all four plan proponents, as well as Joan Entmacher, Vice President for Family Economic Security, National Women's Law Center, a serious progressive who has worked for a long time on women and Social Security.
Can this be, that they will have an actual fact-based inquiry?
