There is a lot of complaining here about the media. How they get the stories wrong. How they are tools for the Rightwing. How some of them just support the Bush propaganda machine. I agree with most of it. We have started to make inroads and I believe what we are doing here at Dkos is working. We must continue to write letters, make calls and let our voices be heard. Starting now is what it is about. We cannot let the far right continue to dominate the headlines with their lies and Bullshit propaganda. Before we know it mid terms will be here ('06) and after that...'08.
Change takes time and can happen in small doses. One particular change, albiet a small one, that I feel can happen and help in the long run is with Aaron Brown's show.."NewsNight with Aaron Brown" on CNN. I really believe Aaron is fair, some here may disagree with me, however I have been watching his show for several years and I feel though sometimes he plays Devil's advocate, but most of the time he is fighting the good fight and is a lib at heart.
Anyway...at the end of Aarons show (his last segment) he does a regular segment called something like "Tomorrows headlines Tonight" where a Rooster crows and he brings out Front pages from Papers around the country (front page headlines that will be tomorrows newspaper headlines) and maybe 1 from around the world (most of the time it is Hearld Tribune). The New York Times doesn't send their front page in.
For the past few night's the Washington Post has been sending their front page to Aaron to read from and comment on. This is something new. Of course the other Washington Paper (the Fascist) Washington Times has always sent their front page in, and sometimes Aaron reads their mindnumbing headlines.
I think it of the utmost importance (especially over the long term) that the Washington Post continue to send Aaron's show "NewsNight" their Front page, to be read live on CNN. I hope you would agree that you would rather have people across the country hear headlines from the WP compared to the Washington Times. I have already written my letter to the Washington Post and I know it would help if others would write and let them know that they should continue to send their front page to CNN's "NewsNight with Aaron Brown's" show.
If we continue to make these baby steps, I believe we will take back our country and get the truth out. Please write the WP today and encourage them. Aaron mentioned a quick aside last night, (after reading the WP front page headline where 60% don't want the Senate to use the Nuclear opition in regards to the filibuster) saying something like "We should write them a thank you letter for sending us the front page headline..maybe you (the audience) can help us out and write one too." That's it folks....I did my part, I hope you will do yours.
