For those of you who missed it, Pat Robertson of Virginia Beach 700 Club fame, was on This Week with George Stephanopoulos this morning. WE SHOULD BE USING HIS APPEARANCE TO FIND OUT WHETHER THE GOP AND ITS LEGISLATORS WILL DISAVOW RIGHT WING MANIACS LIKE ROBERTSON.
Among other things, he said (paraphrasing):
- Hindus and Muslims should not be judges in the U.S.;
- Hindus and Muslins should not be in the President's cabinet;
- Justice Ruth Ginsburg, having served as General Counsel of the ACLU, is a communist;
- People of Faith have been praying for more conservative judges (as if to suggest that those on the other side of the aisle can't be "of faith.")
So now what . . . Does the GOP believe in this hateful rhetoric? Do we make an issue of GOP candidates taking money and aligning themselves with these people? Certainly, we would make an issue of a candidate taking money from the Aryan Nation or the Klan. Why not these guys?? Do we do an ad campaign showing People of Faith who DON'T agree with this?? Where is the outrage? We need to take this on front and center as an UNAMERICAN commentary by a fringe wacko.
