Conyersblog, a couple of new pieces of media criticism about the Downing Street minutes.
The first is by a St. Louis Post-Dispatch columnist.
The second is an interesting response to our complaints from the WaPo ombudsman.
Anyone else tired of the "oh yeah, we screwed up...sorry" thing when it comes to Iraq?
The Congressman's take?
"I came across a spot on, if somewhat disturbing, column by Sylvester Brown, Jr., in the St. Louis Post Dispatch. I'll keep this entry short because I am not sure I could say it as well as Mr. Brown.
[UPDATE: The Washington Post's ombudsman responds to your comments and mine. In my view, it is an excellent response. Unfortunately, it does little to address the underlying problem, namely that the Post has failed to give this story the attention it deserves. Having a reader's advocate, looking backward, and validating our complaints is certainly better than not having such an advocate, but I believe we are really seeing a systemic problem with the media and Iraq. Having been conned by the Administration in the lead up to war, and having covered the first days of the war in a fashion that can only be described as cheerleading, I am wondering if many media outlets feel ongoing, in depth coverage of this matter only serves to highlight these past failures.]
