Sometimes when you read something the implications don't hit you right away. But when I read this I knew this could be big.
Sir Christopher Meyer, Britain's former ambassador to Washington, is writing his memoirs, The Independent on Sunday has learnt. The diplomat was present when Mr Blair met George Bush in the President's ranch at Crawford in March 2002 and played a key role in the run-up to the war.

A couple of things about this man catch my eye, he left the civil service months before Iraq. He would have been present during many meetings leading to the war and he's planning the release of his book right before the Labour Convention in England.
More below the fold.
But it gets better,
The book, as yet untitled, is to due to be published on the eve of Labour's annual conference, a gathering that could prove deeply uncomfortable for the leader.
Sir Christopher, now chairman of the Press Complaints Commission, stresses the book will be "not just about Iraq". His words on Iraq have already, unwittingly, embarrassed Downing Street when a secret memo from him written the day after the Crawford summit was leaked last year. He wrote: "We backed regime change but the plan had to be clever and failure was not an option."
His account was likely to make uncomfortable reading for Mr Blair, according to friends of the former diplomat.
-So he has embarassing information
-he knew about lots of inside information prior to the start of the Iraq war
-he's plan the release of his book when it could do the most damage to Tony Blair's chances of getting re-elected as leader of his party
So what do we do about this?
First off read his memo that was leaked and wonder if he did that himself:)

Memo
From: Sir Christopher Meyer,
Ambassador to the USA
To: Prime Minister's Foreign Affairs Adviser
We backed regime change but the plan had to be clever and failure was not an option. The US could go it alone if it wanted, but if it wanted to act with partners there had to be strategy for building support for military action. I then went through the need to wrong foot Saddam on the inspectors.
Now this is important the Labour party convention is coming up...any body know when because we should start asking questions soon....maybe this guy could sell some more books if he takes advantage and advertises now. I would love to find out what he had to say about the downing street memo.
BAsically I would love some info about this guy and what he'll be saying and when the convention is....so help guys lets research this he was The UK Ambassidor to the US during the led up to the war...it could be very big.
