I admire Howard Dean immensely. I believe he can lead us forward...but,
I believe we need to get our long term strategy together...and not focus on only today...our future as a party depends on it...
Right now, Rove and his minions are out recruiting candidates for state positions and legislatures, grooming them for ten - fifteen years down the road. They will get local and state publicity, and then be ready for prime time national office, and the GOP will have a talent pool of candidates to run.
Are we Dem's doing the same, or waiting around?
I want a Democratic 20 Year Plan
More below
I want to see Dean and other national Democratic leaders recruiting, funding and assisting people in the states that want to get involved on the local level and move forward in the long term (maybe there are 30 Obama's out there). People with vision and ideas that are forward thinking. This also gives a chance to not always complain, but to speak about what we want for America in the future.
While not wanting to sound shrill or negative, I believe Rove's strategy is smart. Just as the Conservatives have been educating and moving forward filling positions for the last 20 years, it makes sense to look long term, not just at the present situation.
In my state, Colorado, we have soem rising stars such as Andrew Romanoff and Jennifer Viega who can lead us into the future as a Party - they are the faces that need to be promoted and assisted by the National Dem's as well as others in the other states (especially those red states). What more can we do?
