The
Washington Post is reporting that FBI documents prove truth in the recently retracted Newsweek story of Koran abuse.
Numerous detainees at the Guantanamo Bay military prison in Cuba told FBI interrogators that guards had mistreated copies of the Koran, including one who said in 2002 that guards "flushed a Koran in the toilet," according to new FBI documents released today.
It appears that the White House has a little explaining to do after blaming Newsweek for poor journalism. I guess Newsweek should have stood firm on its reporting.
More South of the Border
I guess this is the type of thing the Bush Administration is notorious for. Blaming violence and destruction on others as often as possible. We cannot sit idly by an let them do this to credible news outlets like Newsweek. This is the type of intimidation that has kept from worthwhile reporting during the Bush years.
We as part of the netroots communityi are responsible for standing up to this kind of fear mongering and intimidation. News organizations like Newsweek need to be assured that when these things happen we will stand behind them. Lets take this new hypocrasy from the Bushies and run with it!
