Going through today's email for DowningStreetMemo.com I found an invitation to appear on Washington Journal on Saturday--holy crap!
They're going to have a panel on the DSM story and they want me to talk about that but also the internet/blog angle as well.
The kicker, though, is that they said "ideally" I would go to their studios in DC. I told them I'd love to do it, but am in CA and asked if there was a chance I could be patched in remotely.
Assuming I get on, either via a local TV studio or even by phone, I've been out of town all this week and there are a few things I desperately need to get caught up on before Saturday....
- The invite refers to the "Downing Street memos", plural--does anyone know about a second document?
- This may be related to #1, but I need to find out more on the news that the London Times broke on Sunday regarding the escalation of bombing in 2002. The Times story says the "new information" was provided by Sir Menzies Campbell, the Liberal Democrat foreign affairs spokesman, in response to a request to the Ministry of Defence. Can anyone tell me what this guy's position is exactly (and the US equivalent if applicable)? And is it really as simple as I'm reading it--that he just asked the Ministry for info on bombing in 2002 and got it? (I'm sorry, I'm not used to that kind of government--what do you call that and where can I get it?)
- I've never seen Washington Journal (don't have cable)--what is it like? Is it a yelling show or do panelists actually behave civilly to one another? How does it work?
- Any other info/advice you think might be helpful.
Thanks in advance for the help.
