Update [2005-6-15 11:31:28 by thesill]: Was originally titled "In Defense Of Dean (IDOD): I Did, Did U?"
The following is picked up from an alert sent to Rapid Response for Illinois earlier this morning in response to a Chicago Tribune editorial which (go figure) took Gov. Dean (and even John Edwards) out of context...
(And of course don't forget to sign that petition -- and thanks to Glynis for doing that!)

- Congrats to the Trib for following the media herd in removing all context from Gov. Dean's quotes. He was discussing conservative leadership -- not all conservatives as the media would have us believe. And, they even took John Edwards out of context by not providing the follow-up which Edwards published... Then again, why would we dare expect any follow-ups from journalists?
- I'm a white Christian, I'm not offended by Gov. Dean's true and honest assesment of the right-wing. What does offend me is what right-wingers do in the name of a great religion. It's my religion too but the way they twist the Bible to suit their political whims could be consider blasphemy.
- Why would any progressive listen to what Dick Cheney, a known liar, or any other conservative would have to say? Heck, Cheney practically insulted Gov. Dean's mother in that same Fox "News" interview.
- Why do a few honest assessments from the Chairman of the Democratic Party, a progressive, raise media hackles while conservative Sen. Bill Frist gets off scot-free with calling progressives "assassins" (not to mention conservative pundit Ann Coulter and others who have suggested anyone on the left be put to death, imprisoned, deported and/or exiled simply for speaking up and expressing their political views).
I also think it's funny how the GOP always seems to point to the same dozen or so folks to "prove" that they're not all white ("Hey, lookee here, Elaine Chao, Michael Steele and Alberto Gonzales aren't white... And even our chair Ken Mehlman isn't a Christian... Yippee!").
