A few weeks ago, I did a book diary on non-fiction, poetry and essays. This week, I'm opening it up to all non-fiction.
For all you history, science, biography, sociology, women's studies (haaahahaha), archaeology, and travelogue buffs, this one's for you!
Disclaimer-I'm a woman, a feminist, and one who has spent considerable time studying women's studies books. I'm just being funny above.

I don't do too much non-fiction, but I should. Most of the non-fiction I read turns out to be really good and really enjoyable. I'm just too easily tempted by fiction.
Currently, my favorite non-fiction writer is Bill Bryson. I started him with "In a sunburned country" and went on to devour several more, ending most recently with "a brief history of nearly everything", which I think should be required reading for everyone on the planet.
Other favorites include but are not limited to
Margot Adler-"Drawing Down the Moon"
Simone de Beauvoir-"The Second Sex"
Stephen Hawking-"Brief History of Time"
(and especially the newer illustrated version though I don't yet have a copy)
Robert Graves-"The White Goddess"
Ray Bradbury-"Green Shadows, White Whale"
Douglas Adams-"Last Chance to See"
(hmm, looks like a lot of my non-fiction authors are the same as my fiction authors)
Anyway, the list could go on for a while, for while I prefer fiction, I do read an awful lot. Especially about ancient history, science, and pagan studies. So, let's hear your favorites. And, as always, what have you read lately?
