Hi there folks!
As many of you know, I used to be a political independent before the Right Wing made that position for me something reprehensible and feasibly quite dangerous.
That being said, I proudly voted for a number of Republicans, first and foremost, Susan Catania for Lt Governor of Illinois and George Ryan over the odious Glenn Poshard. I would gladly vote for a moderate Republican again like Gerald Ford or Bill Clinton, or, as my cousin sent me this morning the incredibly prescient Dwight D Eisenhower.
Most Chicagoans of my age know Eisenhower only as the only Republican whose name graces a highway in these parts, but it seems that Ike wouldn't like Jr any more than we do.

There is a tiny splinter group, of course, that believes that you can do these things. Among them are a few Texas oil millionaires, and an occasional politician or businessman from other areas. Their number is negligible and they are stupid."
In addition to being a war hero, a decent fellow, a moderate Republican before they began to go extinct, President Eisenhower apparently was also quite the prophet. Little George W. Bush was about 9 years old at the time...
