Bush used to insist that Social Security reform required the private accounts scheme. That was last week, but now that Bush's poll numbers are approaching impeachable level,
he's flip flopped. Now Social Security reform will enjoy all sort of support from the White House without the private accounts scheme.
This flip flop begs the question, If the American people won't let you dessimate and dismantle Social Security with a private accounts scheme, why continue the pretense? There is no Social Security crisis. Social Security will be just fine without touching it at all.
