I'm sure some of you heard this today. It brought tears to my eyes, and absolute outrage down to the deepest part of my soul. The clip is on the
Air America Radio website, down the left hand side under the audio highlights, and is well-worth a listen if you've not already heard it.
The gentleman was from FL, stated he's a liberal and from a liberal family. He wanted to take issue with statements about liberals from Bill O'Reilly and Karl Rove such as those made this week. And he had plenty of reason to want, at minimum, an apology from them, not from legislators who get intimidated after calling out these guys.
More on the flip.
The guy goes on to tell Randi that after 9/11, his two sons decided to go from being in the reserves to active duty "to hunt for bin Ladin", but they wound up in Iraq fighting the wrong war. As a result of this great misadventure we've been in for the past 2+ years, he's suffered great personal loss; both of his sons were killed in Iraq.
He called the Bush family evil. He demanded that these gung-ho war guys send their children; at least they can afford to buy PLENTY of body armor to keep their kids safe. He wondered if there was some way to prosecute O'Reilly and Rove for the lies they've spewed under some sort of hate crime legislation.
(If it were only so. But whatever could be done, it won't bring his sons back, or the other children who have been taken too soon from their parents for the "wrong war".)
Randi praised him for being able to "get it together" to call and let him know he was an inspiration to those who need to get some strength to speak their convictions.
A good reminder for us all, especially those in a position to make a difference by doing so.
