For those of you who still believe that the SCOTUS was correct in its land-theft decision last week, I present to you, the city of Freeport, Texas.

Freeport attorneys are preparing legal documents to seize three pieces of waterfront property for construction of an $8 million
private boat marina.
The Chronicle has a good news summary:

This is just the beginning.
If the fat cat developers want the property, then they ought to purchase it. Offer a price that the owner of the property is willing to accept. Imagine if you had a car that you believed was worth ten thousand dollars; and the government knocked on your door and said, "excuse me, these businessmen here want to purchase your car for $2500, and I hate to have to tell you this but, you are going to have to sell it to them for that amount. Have a nice day."
Here, the property isn't being taken for public roads, a park, a public nature preserve. It is being taken for private development and the profit of politically well connected wealthy developers.
Currently, money talks and those without it are sadly powerless against powerful moneyed interests.
What a damn shame.
