In an attempt to control the public discussion of the Bush administration the Republicans are taking a desperate chance. Throw out some red meat and hope the democrats take the bait.
The Karl Rove statements are the red meat.
Rove wants to control the discussion on Sunday morning. By saying Liberals, code for Democrats, were weak on terror; Rove is trying to hit a home run. Problem is, the game is over and everyone went home.
To simply put this outrageous statement to bed, all one needs to do is look at the vote for invading Afghanistan after 9/11. It was almost to a vote, unanimous.
Rove is trying to blame the democrats for not supporting the troops by not supporting the Iraq war. Rove is trying to turn public opinion away from Bush and place blame on Democrats.
The horses are already out the barn door. America blames Bush for Iraq. America remembers the claims of no WMDs. The downing memo's now gives concrete evidence that Bush negotiated war in Iraq. America remembers Bush glib, Bring them on! America remembers the claims of not enough troops. America remembers the claims of our troops will be welcomed with sweets and candies. America remembers the unending mistakes that continue to occur because Bush and his arrogance. Do I even have to mention bin Laden is still alive, forget about free and we have NO IDEA where he is.
Rove needs the Democrats to take the bait. They are not. Why? One mention of the vote, and the lie is laid bare for what it is. Red Meat politics.
