You guys may have already put this together, but look more closely at
Ted Boutrous:
It is interesting that Bush's former solicitor general, his
controversial judicial nominee and lawyer for Matt Cooper all worked at
the same firm. In a previous draft of this post, others have weighed in on the comments below asking "so what", as Boutrous is not necessarily in cahoots with the WH just because he worked at the same firm, and they are right to say so without more evidence. Still, an interesting possible consequence of this
relationship could be that anything that happens to Cooper could have White House
influence. It is perhaps best not to speculate beyond that without evidence, but it does make me wonder, given the history of this administration to not play by the rules.
"United States Solicitor General THEODORE B. OLSON has just returned to
the firm of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP. He will rejoin the firm as a
partner in the Washington, D.C. office, serve as Co-Chair of Gibson
Dunn's Appellate and Constitutional Law Practice Group, along with
Washington, D.C. partner Miguel Estrada and Los Angeles partner Theodore
J. Boutrous Jr., and lead the firm's client crisis management team."

Boutrous was alson part of the Ken Starr/Clinton mess back in 1998 in which he represented media interests trying to keep the proceedings in the light of day when Clinton claimed executive privilege

And just for kicks, I have to add that Boutrous even has a tie to
Michael Jackson in that he represented the producer of an earlier
Michael Jackson documentary:

(I'm not making that up - Michael Jackson is now tangentially related to
this crap).
I apologize to everyone for the poorly constructed first draft of this post.
