This is my letter to my congressman:
Dear Mr. King,
I used to have respect for you. You seemed like a reasonable man when you went against your party and voted against impeaching President Bill Clinton. Although it was the right thing to do, you probably had an enormous amount of pressure on you to vote for impeachment. That impressed me and I used to point to you as a reasonable Republican.
continued...
Today, I read that you accused Senator Ted Kennedy of harming our troops. I further read that you said that George Bush should invoke September 11th 2001 when talking about Iraq. This has caused me to have serious doubts about your ability to represent the people of Long Island. Since there is no link between Iraq and the terrorists of September 11th, 2001, I can only conclude that you are a liar or are deluding yourself. Either way, you need to resign.
You've lost the confidence of your constituency and during the next election cycle, you will be excised like your fellow congressman Rick Lazio. You will be exposed for the phony that you are and removed from office. Save yourself the embarrassment and resign now. Please, I implore you; it's the only honorable thing to do.
Now actively working for your defeat in 2006
...and then I signed it. I'm really dissapointed with Pete King.
