I just heard the President's response to questions about the Plame affair this evening in which he states he does not know all the facts. Huh? I continue to wonder what planet I live on. After two f***ing years, millions of dollars to investigate this matter, the trashing of careers (Cooper's is over) and ruining people's lives (Miller sits in jail) and we find out today that he doesn't know all the facts. Why the hell not?
Two years ago someone from his Administration was accused of leaking information. Did he take the trouble to ask? Perhaps he could have forgone a bike ride and taken a twenty minute meeting with Mr. Rove and then Mr. Libby and simply ask. Of course, he didn't ask because he knows the answer, it`s called plausible deniability, or in this case sheer stupidity. Unfortunately, we aren't talking about politics; this is the leaking of a CIA agent's name. It is a crime against America. But, we seem to have the dope in the White House who thinks that "we don't have all the facts" is sufficient. Either he is the most incompetent President we have ever had and/or a liar, and probably the worst gambling decision I have seen. He knows the cards are against him, the stakes are extremely high and yet he won`t fold.
Bush is in a political poker game and is playing his hand out to the last card. He waits for the Special Prosecutor to act. If he indicts, then bets are on as to whether Mr. Bush finishes his term. If there is no indictment, then Bush played the hand right. It would seem to me to better to cut his losses and fire the two admitted leakers. Instead, he risks it all, once again. Evidently, he hasn't watched any of those World Poker tournaments. If he had, he would learn that even the best hands don't always win in the end. This looks to me like he is behind with two cards to go and has about a 10% chance of getting the card that he needs. In short, the risk seems to high relative to the amount at stake.
