Last week, I posted my very first
diary (77 comments!) describing a Freeper acquaintance and some Gooper talking points he was circulating.
Well, we've been sparring over Rove-gate, and in the course of these exchanges he has provided snippets of insight into his opinion and beliefs.
Well, I just got a message from him that takes the cake. Not only does he parrot the RNC Talking Point/Lies (now called the "Chewbacca Defense"), but he goes several steps further, adding new smears and smoke screens.
His note is below the fold...
(Minor punctuation edits made for easier comprehension.)
"The "old" corporate CIA was ardently anti-Bush from the start, as are all of the CIA and State Dept. career civil servants of that era. Nothing surprising here.
Their fiefdoms have been trampled and they resent losing parts of their turf, though they roundly deserve it for the poor quality of work they provided AND in reality for insubordination to their boss, the President - whoever he is.
To come out actively like this, and Plame was a bit player at best and way out of touch, is over the top.
Wilson also lied through his teeth on the yellow cake for partisan reasons and this emerged, so little sympathy for him. His wife was also very pro-Democrat and got her husband sent for anti-Bush reasons, not for the verification he failed to do correctly. As he has since admitted when faced with contrary proof even from Democrats.
As someone who had CIA friends in the old days, I understand the horror at being outed - as by Phillip Agee, which jeopardized not only their lives but also overseas information gathering channels and even worse the foreign "contacts" that had been recruited, who were slaughtered.
Plame is a lame excuse for all this outrage couched under an umbrella of serious Agee conditions for which the law being used was actually tailor made.
Anyway, seems to give you something to shout about but that's about it. I don't expect it to go too far. Dems would be better off seeing what they can propose in a positive way to get more important national concerns patted into shape and not simply always scream some highly exaggerated criticisms instead of looking after the real needs of the people.
Like Senator Reid, who stated that if there was a problem with the Supreme Court nomination it would be all Bush's fault - meaning that the candidate has to be exactly to their pre-approval(minority, though they are) or else they would play dirty again. What a guy! Do it Dems' way or the highway. But if Bush were to say that ........ oh my! Only Dems can say nobody else has the right to disagree with their way or their choice. Listen carefully sometimes. They function by obstructing or tearing down without ever building anything but a welfare state.
There's a [foreign, cultural] saying that it only needs an uneducated, unskilled bunch of laborers to tear down a building but it needs architects and engineers to design and build one. Which would you say (deep down) applies better to the Dems? Laborers or Engineers?
Anyway, enjoy your little teacup storm."
I find that last sentence amusing, given the piece about WSJ's John Fund's comment mentioned at Crooks and Liars.
Anyhoo, this one is ripe for a factual rebuttal and discrediting, if anyone cares to take a stab.
I have no illusions of swaying his opinion about Bush or his "steadfast resolve" in supporting the GOP, just shooting down his nonsense and lies. He's a frequent visitor and contributor at the Free Republic and has been fully assimilated. He has an insatiable thirst for Kool-Aid.
